Why do people pretend good things about Jesus ?

ive had a few discussions both here and in real life and often find people excuse the ot with all its vile, violence and only concentrate on jesus because he was good.

i try and assk them to show me an example and they of course they quickly tell us about the miracles, and thats fine.

however when you ask them about slavery, violence, women and so on they make excuses.

You seem to be ignorant of the FACT that Exodus and Leviticus is THE TORAH/Tanakh, and is not "an addition" to the Torah: IT IS THE TORAH!!!

The first five books of the OT ARE the Torah (Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, Deuteronomy), AKA tanakh, or the Greek translation (called Septuagint).

I do not follow for a reward... and I am not a 'better' person than most.

Nonsense: you know what you expect as your 'reward', and what you ARE currently getting as your reward. It's rewarding to your ego, gives you comfort, etc. I'm not buying that for a minute, that you don't expect or get any 'reward' for being Jesus' apologetist.

Further, you still haven't disproved where I presented scriptural evidence that Jesus endorsed every last concept, every last word found in the Torah (including slavery), and in fact, the Sanhedrin Court (Jewish) dug for ANY proof that he had violated the Torah; they came up empty. If he HAD spoken against slavery, he would have given the Sanhedrin grounds for speaking against a practice allowed under the law.

Realize that ANY attempts, however minor, to modify or CHANGE the Torah would be considered the HEIGHT of apostacy under Hebrew law (there are scriptures in Deuteronomy that prohibit ANY such modifications). He even said, "I don't come to CHANGE the torah, but to fulfill it" (referring to the messianic prohecies it contains).

Bottom line is, Jesus didn't have to own slaves to indicate his support for slavery; he believed in his Daddy's law that explicitly allowed it (even demanded it, in the case of invading foreign lands of their neighbors, making them into their slaves).

standing for the weak against the men 'beating' them... Yes, how utterly lame of him.

You cannot seem to get it through your noggin that Jesus endorsed EVEN LAST WORD found in the torah! He said repeatedly, "I didn't not come to change the law", and "every last word of the law stands for time indefinite", etc.

That includes the Exodus scriptures about how beating one's slave with a rod is A-OK, just as long as you don't kill them (at least, if they don't die within an hour: if they last a day, there's no worries about murder charges against the slave-owner).

Jesus endorsed the Torah, and the Torah endorses slavery. Can you grasp that?

The reason he didn't say it was HE NEVER BELIEVED IT. In fact, Jesus fully believed in the Torah, down to every last word, including it's position on slavery.

Perhaps some have missed the nuanced point that his disciples actually believed him to be the Earthly Jewish Messiah, who was going to Jerusalem to ascend to the Earthly Kingdom of Israel in Jerusalem? Perhaps some of you did not understand the in-fighting and power-play dynamics documented to have existed amongst the disciples, some of whom asked Jesus to apoint them into positions of power, as his right hand advisors, as members of his Earthly administration? Hence the need for Jesus to tell them, "he who would be first, is last"?

OF COURSE the disciples were willing to feed the guy, serve him, following him around like lost puppy dogs, in hopes of whatever reward they would get. It was like someone today who wants to attach themselves to someone perceived to be as a rising star, who can take them along for the ride of their life. Someone claiming to be the Jewish Messiah is about as big as it gets, if you're Jewish.

That's human nature, unfortunately: people will ALWAYS play kiss-up to powerful figures, or claimants to the title (just like the thread about JWs marrying into high-status families, with an unofficial caste system in place of ministerial servants, elders, bethelites, CO, DO, GB, etc).

statistically speaking this means that the saqqara tablet only contains 25% of the pharaohs it should contain during these timeframes, or conversely it is 75% incorrect.

Do they really? I've heard of widows without children who leave their property to the WT, but do they disavow their own DF children in their wills? Now that you say it, it makes sense, but is that in writing as policy where it could be verified, or is it word-of-mouth?
